Non-Negotiable Truth
We are a non-denominational church, but we are not a doctrine-free church. What we believe is settled, written, and taught consistently from this pulpit. The following statements define the theological foundation every ministry at New Hope Cathedral is built on.
1. The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — co-equal, co-eternal, and united in purpose. This is not a secondary detail of our faith; it is the foundation everything else stands on.
2. The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for what we teach, how we live, and how we settle disagreement. Scripture is not one voice among many at New Hope — it is the standard every other voice is measured against.
3. Salvation by Grace
We believe salvation is a gift, not a wage. It comes through grace, received by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross — not earned through good works, religious performance, or personal effort. Christ finished the work. We simply receive it.
4. Holy Spirit-Empowered Living
We believe the Holy Spirit doesn't just save — He empowers. Every believer is called to a life of holiness made possible by the Spirit's active presence, not human willpower alone. This power is meant to be visible in how New Hope members live, lead, and serve.
5. Fivefold, Gift-Based Ministry
We believe God distributes leadership gifts across the Body — prophets, prophetesses, ministers, teachers, evangelists, and deacons — each operating under pastoral oversight. Ministry at New Hope is never a one-man operation; it's a trained, gifted team submitted to godly leadership.
6. Pastoral Oversight & Order
We believe gifts without government create chaos. Every ministry at New Hope, from prophetic teams to deacons, operates under the oversight of Bishop Richard Leaphart-Mack and the church's established leadership — order that protects the congregation and keeps the mission focused.
These beliefs aren't up for negotiation with culture or convenience. They're the reason New Hope Cathedral has stood for twenty-five years, and they're the reason it will still be standing twenty-five years from now.
